Welcome to IIEALearning™, the official digital learning platform of the Insurance Institute of East Africa (IIEA) for Corporate users and Affiliates.

This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your personal information when you access or use our eLearning platform, websites, courses, or related services.

By using IIEALearning™, you consent to the practices described in this policy.

Who we are

IIEALearning™ is a digital product owned and managed by the Insurance Institute of East Africa (IIEA) — an insurance training organisation dedicated to advancing insurance education and training across Africa. Our registered office is located in Nairobi, Kenya.

Information we collect

We collect personal and institutional information to facilitate learning, certification, and platform administration. This may include:

a. Personal information

• Name, email address, phone number, and postal address.
• Gender, nationality, and date of birth (for certification purposes).
• Employment details (organization, job title, professional membership).
• Login credentials and usage data (for platform access).

b. Institutional and enterprise information

• Organization name, contact details, and authorized users.
• Corporate billing and payment information.
• Course enrolment, completion, and analytics data.

c. Technical information

• IP address, browser type, device information, and cookies.
• Learning activity logs and assessment history.

How we use your information

We use collected information to:

• Create and manage learner or institutional accounts.
• Enroll users in courses and issue certificates.
• Provide customer support and training assistance.
• Process payments and manage billing for enterprises or affiliates.
• Monitor course progress, analytics, and performance.
• Improve platform functionality, course content, and user experience.
• Communicate important updates, policies, or events related to IIEA programs.

The law allows us to use the personal information as set out above on the basis that the processing is necessary for the performance of a contract with you, or we are acting in our "legitimate interests", for example, for the purposes of providing goods, services, and support as an effective training provider for our partners and clients.

Marketing communications

IIEA may use your personal information to send you marketing communications by mail, telephone (including SMS text message) or email. This is necessary for the purposes of the legitimate interests pursued by us, for example, to keep our partners updated about products that they might be interested in. For situations where you are purchasing goods and services from us, this is for the performance of the contract with you.

• Your consent, when you register, enroll, or submit forms.
• Contractual necessity, to provide training and certification services.
• Legitimate interests, such as improving education delivery and reporting outcomes.
• Legal obligations, under applicable education, tax, or data protection laws.

We respect your privacy and will never sell your information. However, your information may be shared with:

• Authorized IIEA partners and affiliates for course delivery or certification.
• Corporate clients or employers, where training is sponsored or managed by them.
• Technology providers (e.g., hosting or payment processors) under strict confidentiality agreements.
• Regulatory or accreditation bodies, where disclosure is required by law.

Data storage and retention

Your data is securely stored on reputable cloud infrastructure providers with strict access controls. We retain your information only for as long as necessary to fulfill educational, contractual, or legal obligations. Learners and partners may request deletion or correction of personal data at any time (see Section 10).

For corporate and affiliate partners

Enterprise and Affiliate partners using customized LMS portals are responsible for ensuring compliance with their own data protection obligations when managing learner data. IIEA provides guidance and system support to help partners comply with data privacy standards.

International data transfers

Where data is transferred across borders (for example, to cloud servers or affiliate institutions), IIEA ensures that appropriate data protection safeguards are in place.

Children’s privacy

IIEALearning™ is intended for professional and adult learners. We do not knowingly collect data from minors under the age of 18 without verified parental or institutional consent.

Updates to this policy

IIEA may update this Privacy Policy periodically to reflect new features, legal requirements, or operational improvements. Any major changes will be communicated through the platform or by email.
